Moscow- Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Christodoulos is among the recipients of the

Moscow- Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Christodoulos is among the recipients of the annual award by the International Foundation of Unity of Orthodox Peoples. Moscow and All Russia Patriarch Alexei II who presented the awards at the Church of Christ the Savior expressed the hope that the Archbishop will overcome his health problems and will be able to receive the award in person. In the announcement, Archbishop Christodoulos is described as a leading personality of the Orthodox world. The announcement praises the Archbishop’s contribution to the consolidation of the unity of orthodox peoples and the preservation of the Orthodox presence in the EU.

This year’s recipients include Moldavian President Vladimir Voronin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Ecclesiastical Seminary “Archbishop Makarios III”. Previous recipients include Russian President Vladimir Putin, former President of Greece Kostis Stephanopoulos and Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos.
